2017 starts my 64th summer at CAMP!! I have literally been in camping from the time I was 4 years old as a camper, until now. When I was 17 years old, I started working at Pierce Camp Birchmont (where I went as a camper) starting in the kitchen as a Shift Leader, General Counselor, Athletic Specialist, Assistant Group Leader, and three summers as a Division Head. I spent the next 25 years as Athletic Director and several years as also Program Director. I have been here at Meadowbrook since 1999. My first role was as the Ropes Director and after that first year, I’ve since been Camp’s Waterfront Director. As you can see Camping has been my life’s love.
I retired from Mendham HS in 2011 after 43 years of teaching and coaching. I have continued to coach Football and Golf since retiring. I have been honored by the Mendham community by being elected to the Mendies Hall of Fame for the 1975 State Championship in football and in December 2015 was inducted into the Mendham HS Hall of Fame. In November of 2016 I was inducted to the Roselle Park Hall of Fame for our 1969 undefeated State Championship. I am also a member of the New Jersey Wrestling Officials for nearly 50 years, and a winner of the Richard Mershack Award for outstanding contribution to Wrestling. I have also been a volunteer for 40 years with the Madison Fire Department, spending the last 8 years as Battalion Chief.
To me, Camp is a wonderful life experience. You have a chance to meet and make new friends, learn new and exciting activities in a warm, safe, caring environment. In my 17 years at MCDC I have seen great advances in the development of all aspects of camp life. The facility has been updated from top to bottom. The installation of new bathrooms, a new fieldhouse, new tents, newly renovated athletic fields, upgraded athletic equipment and newly planted trees throughout camp.
The best part of camp is the warm, caring, loving professionals that oversee the daily adventure of the campers & staff. I look forward to continuing my role at Meadowbrook as we continue our devotion to the personal development and happiness of our members of our Camp family.
I live in Landing with my lovely wife Loretta. We are blessed with six children (3 each) also rounding out the family is eight grandchildren - 6 Girls, 2 Boys and 2 dogs.

husband, Jeff, and I have two beautiful children Olivia 6 and Franco 3. I
have a degree in Psychology and a Masters in Education with a Specialization in

absolutely love what I do! When I'm not working I love spending time with
family and friends, practicing Yoga, and walking my French Bulldog,
I am so excited to spend another summer watching my campers
develop friendships, reach their goals in the pool, challenge course, or on the
field, and create everlasting memories.
I am so excited to be a part of the MCDC family. I live just down the road in Tewksbury and my sons, Charlie (9) and Ryan (4), are equally as excited to join in on all the fun offered here at Meadowbrook. When it comes to camp activities, I like all things food-related and if it makes a mess…BONUS! As far as sports, I am most comfortable on the courts – tennis and basketball are two of my favorites.
I earned my Master’s Degree from Rutgers University and recently returned to school earning my Supervisor’s Certificate from Rowan University. I wear a lot of different hats and pride myself on my organization to keep it all straight! As the 8th Grade Teen Travel Division Head, I am looking forward to hitting the road and making amazing memories..
Hello MCDC families! My name is Russell and this is my 7th (or 8th, not sure) year at Meadowbrook. I am excited to start my first summer as the Athletic Director, a perfect complement to my profession as a physical education teacher, after spending all my previous summers as the Division Head for our 9th graders. My daughter has been attending camp since she was 3 and will be joining us again this summer. My favorite activity at camp is fishing as it is also something I enjoy outside of camp. It relaxes me. Besides fishing, I enjoy sports of all types especially when my daughter is playing.
Creativity, self-expression, fun, perseverance – those are just some of the benefits that come from Meadowbrook’s Specialty Programs. I am so thrilled to lead the cooking, art,
dance, lake and outdoor living areas at Camp. I have been at Meadowbrook since 2014 and everyone knows that I live 10 for 2! I grew up in Rhode Island and made my way to New Jersey by way of Boston and New York. I have taught High School English in the Bronx for several years before moving to Livingston to raise my boys, Ben & Max, with my husband, Doug. During the year, I teach and lead Youth Groups at Congregation B’Nai Jeshurun in Short Hills where I’m lucky to have some Meadowbrook Campers as my students!
I am so excited to help your children create indelible (and edible!) memories here at Meadowbrook!
Hi, I’m Steve O and I have been at MCDC since 2004! With a long history of enjoying fun outdoor activities like skiing and scuba diving, my favorite part of camp is the Challenge Course where I have been leading the team for several summers. My family and I love to travel and just this year we skied the Matterhorn in Zermatt Switzerland! My other hobbies include anything to do with technology and sports, where I have been a lifelong Giants and Yankees fan with a passion for Premier League soccer cheering on the Tottenham Hotspurs. I have 2 daughters who have also been part of the MCDC family for 13 years; Brigette once a camper and now a Lifeguard, and Syndey, who started out as a Tiny Toon Camper and is in her 2nd year on staff. It truly is an MCDC family experience for the Opaczewski house.
- My name is Pam Rogers and I am the Tiny Toons Pre-K Division Head. I particularly love the Tiny Toons age, as during the school year I am a Preschool Teacher with young 2 year olds. I truly love watching how much they progress and grow over the school year, and love experiencing the same in just 8 weeks at Camp! Our family resides in Livingston, NJ and we have 2 boys, Jayden (8 yrs old) and Owen (6) who also love Meadowbrook. I wanted to be part of all the fun too, so I joined Meadowbrook in 2014! Personally, I love to run, travel, and spend time with my family. My boys keep me busy with all their sports - there is always a ball in hand and a sporting event on the TV in my house! At camp, I especially love sports, art and cooking, and cannot wait for summer, every year!
Hi my name is Penny and I am the division head for all kindergarten Tiny Toons groups. I am an 8th grade math teacher during the school year and love spending my summers at Meadowbrook with my kindergarteners! This will be my 11th summer at MCDC where I spend my days making sure my campers have the best summer ever!
Outside of camp, my two sons keep our family extremely busy with competitive swimming, lacrosse, and tennis. My son Evan (13) will be spending his 11th summer at Meadowbrook and Joshua (16) was a camper at Meadowbrook for 10 summers and a counselor last summer. My sons and I have created lifelong friendships and memories at MCDC and look forward to another amazing summer!
I am so excited to be on the MCDC Leadership Team! I am a school social worker by day, mother to two amazing kids (Avery – 6 and Tristan – 4) by night and MCDC Division Head by summer :) I have a degree in Elementary Education and my masters in Social Work. I work with a special needs population in the Randolph School District. I am also the bullying specialist in my school. I strive each day to promote a comfortable school climate that creates the best possible learning environment for our students. I love my job and leave every day feeling like I have made a difference in someone’s life. I’m looking forward to bringing my knowledge and experience to my position at camp. MCDC has quickly become my second home and I’m always counting down the days to summer!
Hello! My name is Jeri Cenziper, and I am ecstatic to bring my 2-Time, TIGER Cup winning spirit back to Meadowbrook every summer! I’ve been at MCDC as a Division Head since 2012! I sincerely LOVE Camp! I was a Camper myself since the age of 4, both in day and sleep away Camp, and I was a Senior Counselor at several day Camps from the time I was 17! I am genuinely a “Camper at Heart” and Meadowbrook truly is my happy place, as I adore connecting with children in this setting and making lifetime friendships with my fellow staff members.
I have my Masters in Social Work from New York University (NYU) and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker/Psychotherapist with nearly 20 years of post-graduate experience. I have a private practice in Chester, and specialize in children, adolescents and families. I have been happily married to my husband Steve, for nearly 13 years and we have two amazing children, Jared (age 11) and Jaime (age 7), who keep us very busy and are extremely excited for their sixth Meadowbrook Summer!
In my spare time, I love playing and watching sports, going to the beach, working out and spending time with my family! Fun fact…I also have an identical twin sister!
Hi, I’m Jaime Lauro and I have been at Meadowbrook since 2014! I have three beautiful children, Chase, Addison and Paige and we reside in Livingston NJ with my husband, Anthony. At MCDC, I LOVE to watch the kids at Adventure Challenge. I love watching how they push themselves to their own persona limits to try and reach their goals. I also love Swim Instruction as I am a swim instructor myself. The progress our Campers make all summer long is remarkable. Personally, I love to run 5K’s, whether an obstacle course or a fun “color run” and those are activities I can get a bit messy with so its even more fun!
I am an avid New York Giants fan and football such a great sport because it really helps tie our family together. We love to watch games, cook delicious food and all hang out together. It’s also such a thrill to watch my own children play sports. Our weekends are dedicated to soccer, baseball, hockey, swimming & basketball! I’m thrilled to have my children join me at MCDC every day and I cannot wait for the start of Summer!
I am thrilled to be returning to MCDC as a Division Head, the same role I’ve had since 2014. I am the proud father of an eight-year-old daughter and two-year-old boy-girl twins all of whom can't wait to get to camp. I am also an actor, artist, writer, teacher, designer, rock-climber, soccer-player, martial artist, gamer, philosopher, philanthropist, and all-around Renaissance man. When not being awesome at everything, I can be found happily lifting babies up and then down again, and drawing things that sometimes are intelligible, making puns online, and making people groan with my awesome dad-jokes. I cannot wait to spend another amazing summer at camp.
I am entering my 7th fun filled summer at MCDC, yes I was 18 when I was first hired. I have 3 children who have shared these past summers with me they are: -Matthew - 14, Sophie - 11, Addison - 9. There are so many activities that I enjoy at camp I had to flip a coin and decide on Dance, Jewelry and Ropes (Yes I Know!) My favorite non-Camp activity is exercising at CrossFit with my awesome family, to get ready for my incredibly active, memory filled, silly, happy, incredible, fabulous, sunshiny, smiley, summer! I love animals too; we have 4 pets in our house, that's right 4!!! Finally, on Sundays I enjoy watching football with my family, and since I adore my husband, I am also a Miami Dolphins fan! I can't wait to see all of you every summer at MCDC, my Happy Place!!!!
After 18 years in Florida, my family decided a few years ago to make the pilgrimage up North! I have been the Senior Boys Division Head since 2015 and I love helping my campers develop their potential as caring, mindful and active kids. I have been an English teacher in the private school setting for over twenty years and I currently teach in a small school in Chatham. I am blessed to have two daughters, Isabella and Lena, both of whom are MCDC campers. Some fun facts about me: I have driven 85,000 miles in a car converted to run on used vegetable oil, was in the Guinness Book of World Records for playing Louie, Louie, and I thoroughly enjoy working out and writing.
Hi, I’m Nancy and I’ve been at Meadowbrook since 2010. I have worked in Special Events for three years and now as a Division Head for the past few summers. I have two Children; this will be my son's 9th year at Meadowbrook and my daughter is now on Staff.
My favorite activities at Camp are Boards & Bikes, any type of Cooking and of course, our Challenge Course. My favorite things to do while not at Camp are hiking with my family, especially my dog, going to the beach and spending quality time with family and friends.
I am truly someone that emulates the 10for2 way of living. The two months out of the year that are spent at camp are by far my favorite. I was blessed to attend summer camp for most of my childhood and teenage years and could not be more thrilled to have the opportunity here at Meadowbrook as an “adult camper” to help my girls make new friends, achieve new goals and of course, create indelible memories...I’ve been part of the MCDC Family since 2013. I am a Meadowbrook Mom to Joey and Giuliana. My favorite camp activities (sorry, I can’t pick just one) are Gaga, Flag Football, and Dance. When I am not singing and cheering around camp with my girls, you can find me cooking, hiking with my family, or working out at Intensati. During football season you can expect to hear me cheering on the Giants and once Spring Training starts, it’s all about the Yankees. I live in Branchburg with my husband Dave, and our kids.
Having been at Meadowbrook since 2006, I am very excited for another summer at MCDC, along with my daughters Hannah and Avery who are back for their 7th and 3rd summers at MCDC. There is no better place for us as a family then to spend our days at MCDC. I love spending my days out in our fields watching my groups play, but the highlight of the week for me is our Friday Morning Blast Offs. It is great watching my counselors earn All Star Staff shirts and going up to compete in our Pie Guy Competition. During the summer my family and I enjoy going on hikes and catching Red Bull's soccer games.
Here is a brief history of Steve Breslow, your friendly 7th-Grade Travel Goofball (a.k.a. Division Head):
At MCDC since 2008 or 2009, I always forget! – I’ve been part of the Ropes Course, 4th Grade Boys DH, 2nd Grade Boys DH, and now a Travel DH! I’m a High School Math Teacher @ Millburn HS and I’m a Hubby (Debbie) and Dad (Brian - 18, Karenna - 14)
Favorite Camp memories: A) Watching my kids grow up here, knowing that the fun, friends, and lessons learned have helped shape who they are, today! B) Helping my Campers have terrific summers, knowing that the fun, friends, and lessons learned will help shape who they will become! C) Laughing, every day, while working with a great group of colleagues and friends. Favorite Hobbies: Enjoying time with my family, watching our kids enjoy things that they love to do, getting outside to hike and listening to music. Favorite teams: Boston Red Sox, Boston Bruins, Minnesota Vikings, Rutgers Scarlet Knights.
My name is Jill and I’ve been at Meadowbrook since 2009. I’ve been Director of Special Events and a Division Head during my amazing summers at MCDC. I have 3 children... Maddie, Dani, and our future camper Brayden was just born in October 2017! My favorite activities at camp are the Adventure Challenge course and Tennis. Outside of camp I enjoy staying active by running in 5Ks and Mud Runs.
The summer of 2017 starts my 11th year at Meadowbrook Country Day Camp. I have 3 children all of whom were campers at Meadowbrook from 2006 to present… Austen 18, Maddy 16 and Brennen 13 who is entering his 11th year at Meadowbrook as a Supers Camper. I have over 35 year of pool experience that includes, lifeguarding, teaching lessons, high school coaching, managing pools, lifeguard training, swim lesson program development, and pool director. I will be completing my 28th year as a teacher of mathematics where I spend my time with 6th graders 10 months out of the year. Camp provides me the opportunity to step outside into Mother Nature’s classroom and teach swimming that is a vital life skill. The progression of watching the youngest camper just 3 years old transition into confident swimmers over the years is the heart of the swim lesson program at Meadowbrook.
Hello Families and Campers of MCDC!! Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Doug Ryan and as 2017 is my first summer at Meadowbrook, I cannot begin to tell you all how eager to begin as a Division Head for our 9th Grade Travel Campers. Although I live in Easton, Pennsylvania with my daughter, Kayla, I grew up on the Jersey Shore, which definitely explains my incredible love of the water. I teach down the road from Camp at Long Valley Middle School and frequently play drums in our faculty rock band. I love playing and watching all sports, especially baseball and football, and pride myself as an avid Mets and New York Football Giants fan. I am thrilled to be a part of this amazing Leadership Team and cannot wait for Camp to begin!
