Roz & Jed Buck – Owners/Directors

There is something special about having a husband and wife team with a love for children overseeing every detail of the camp operation. Roz and Jed Buck bring that special care as the on-site Owners/Directors of Meadowbrook Country Day Camp. Each and every day at Meadowbrook, they bring their love for children and camping together to create special memories for Meadowbrook families. As parents of one high school and one middle school child themselves, as well as proven childhood specialists, they create a special connection with both campers and staff that is truly unique.

Their story is a camp fairytale…meeting as teenage counselors working at a NJ day camp and now sharing every day of camp with your children. Over the past 25 years, Roz has held many day camp leadership positions including her role as an Assistant Director at Jefferson Lakes Day Camp overseeing various aspects of camping. She has also been a member of the teaching staff of the West Orange Jewish Community Center in their Early Childhood Department.

Roz also has extensive volunteer experience with several non-profit organizations. Most significantly, she has held many leadership positions within the Millburn Township School District including President of the South Mountain Elementary School Parent Teacher Organization. She currently serves on the Millburn Townwide Conference of Parents and Teachers. Roz is also a published author focusing on articles relating to children.

Jed has held a variety of positions, both paid and volunteer, working with children since 1979. Jed’s camp experience includes Directing the Waterfront at Jefferson Lakes Day Camp as well as the inaugural cross-country trip for JLC Tours. He is a long-time coach for both the Millburn-Short Hills Recreation Department and Millburn-Short Hills Little League. He has also chaired the Congregation B’nai Israel Religious School Board and has served as a Visiting Professor at Syracuse University’s S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications.

In addition to his work with children, Jed brings highly effective organization and personnel management skills from a proven track record in business. Prior to Meadowbrook, he was President of a privately held media company based in New York City and has also worked in management positions for Capital Cities/ABC and The Procter & Gamble Company.

Roz and Jed are the next generation of experienced Camp Directors. Every day you can find them out of the camp office and highly involved across the Meadowbrook campus forming personal bonds with the campers and staff and helping to create positive “indelible” summer memories.
